How is ETF scoring different from stock scoring?

Stocks are scored on the 4-pillar fundamental framework (Valuation, Quality, Growth, Health) computed from the company’s own financials. ETFs are scored on a lookthrough basis: we aggregate the 4-pillar scores of the underlying holdings, weighted by portfolio exposure. We additionally surface cost (net expense ratio), income (trailing-twelve-month distribution yield), and diversification metrics that do not apply to single stocks. The composite ETF score blends fundamental quality of the underlying holdings with cost and risk.

Are the leaderboards ranked by AUM or by score?

By score, not by assets-under-management. AUM measures popularity; the leaderboards measure ShareValue.ai’s quantitative read on cost, quality, performance, yield, or diversification (depending on the board). A small-AUM fund with strong fundamentals can rank above a large-AUM peer with weaker fundamentals on most boards.

How often do the ETF rankings update?

The ETF refresh pipeline runs weekday nightly, like stock scoring. The dateModified stamp on each board reflects the last successful run. Markets-closed weekends and holidays show the most recent weekday’s rankings.

How are ETF fundamentals different from the price-action data?

Accepted Answer

Fundamentals come from the underlying holdings’ financial statements aggregated by portfolio weight (so an ETF’s "Quality" reflects the average ROIC across its holdings). Price-action data (52-week range, momentum, volatility) comes from the ETF’s own trading history. Both inputs feed the composite score; cost and yield are sourced from issuer fund-fact-sheet data.
